Solidarity / Responsibility / Manifesto: Composed of a variety of different film documents - newsreels, propaganda films and Marker's own footage - the film is divided into the chapters "Fragile Hands" (1. From Vietnam to the Death of Che, 2. May '68 and All That) and "Severed Hands" (1. From Spring in Prague to the Common Program, 2. From Chile to...What, in Fact?). Marker attempts to take stock of the ideals and political commitment of the 10 years from 1967 to 1977, and their successes and failures. Alternately biting and melancholy, he constructs a polyphonic, forceful, and critical history of the political struggle.
